IZICO Bocholt in Belgium, part of one of the largest suppliers of frozen snacks in Europe, is going to work together with Milgro for sustainable waste management. As of April 2017, Milgro will take responsibility for the snack producer's integral waste management process.
IZICO supplies frozen snacks, including frikandels, burgers, mini snacks, spring rolls and bread snacks under the brand names Beckers and Bicky. Production takes place in our own factories in Katwijk and Deurne in the Netherlands and Bocholt in Belgium. Mark Claessens, plant manager at IZICO Bocholt: “We were looking for a partner who would relieve us cost-effectively in the field of waste management and at the same time offer concrete solutions to operate even more sustainably. Milgro fully meets this profile. They take all waste management off our hands and ensure not only the further reduction of residual waste, but also aim for optimal processing and the highest valorisation of residual flows. Milgro has the knowledge, approach and market position to offer the best solution for our situation, at the lowest Total Cost of Waste.
“Thanks to our many years of experience in food, including the snack industry, we can quickly achieve improvements for IZICO that result in significantly lower waste costs and better sustainability performance. Moreover, 'Grip op Waste' provides a strong basis for follow-up steps. For example, there is interest in our solution to provide insight into the waste of raw materials in the production process. In short, a collaboration with great prospects for both parties ”, says Alex van Kuilenburg, Consultant Resource Management at Milgro.
