From 1 September 2017, Hessing, a very leading fruit and vegetable cutting company in North Holland, has outsourced waste management to Milgro. The aim is to make Hessing's waste flows even more transparent and controllable. Milgro takes responsibility for an unambiguous and controlled waste management process and continuous management of better financial and sustainability performance. As part of this, reducing waste of raw materials and optimal valorisation are high on the joint agenda.
Cutting and processing fruit and vegetables is a profession in itself and Hessing has mastered this specialty for almost 60 years. The fresh raw materials are processed into ready-to-cook vegetables, processed fruit, fresh juices and meal salads. These fresh products are transported quickly and super fresh throughout the Benelux, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Every week, millions of packages of fresh products are shipped from the various production locations.
Wouter Harlaar, CFO of Hessing: “Hessing is already active in many areas in the transition to the circular economy. Milgro has shown us in a short time, based on their benchmarks and specialism, that we can still implement various optimisations in the field of waste and valorisation of flows. Milgro will assist us in this. "
Milgro is looking forward to the collaboration." Hessing is a leading party in the Food market that is an excellent fit for us, "said Alex van Kuilenburg of Milgro's Food market team." Not only because of its high ambitions. and dynamic business operations, but above all because of the strategic importance attached to sustainability. We are convinced of the joint opportunities and look forward to a fruitful collaboration. "
